ISLAMABAD: The apprehended Director of Foreign Affairs Shafqat Cheema, after becoming sick and tired from scorching heat has offered in black and white to return all the plundered money voluntarily to National Accountability Bureau (NAB) under plea bargain. NAB has also sought the details of entire bank accounts of Shafqat Cheema from State Bank of Pakistan as well as tax returns from Federal Board of Revenue.After the receiving an application from Shafqat Cheema, the NAB officials commenced the estimating value of total plundered money by him. When Cheema was arrested, NAB recovered Rs 50 million from his bank accounts. Shafqat Cheema has the charge to sell 5000 machine readable passports during his posting at Pakistan Embassy at Madrid, Spain. Foreign Office (FO) confirmed the information that he sold each passport for 2500 Euros. At that time FO wrote a letter to NAB asking action against him.After completing the enquiry the NAB had arrested Shafqat Cheema, who is used to the leading luxurious life, and now he is exasperated with rise of mercury in the custody of NAB. In his application he asked the NAB that he may be informed that how much amount he would have to pay to national kitty for plea bargain. It is pertinent to mention here that it is known that he bought 125 hector of agriculture land near Gujranwala. He also owns a lavish house in Islamabad. When NAB conducted raid, they recovered precious ivory and 113 bottle of imported liquor from his house.
