PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly approved four demands for grants for the year 2016-17 while the opposition members in the assembly withdrew their cut motions.

As the assembly session started, the Finance Minister answered all questions asked by the opposition members in the previous session of the assembly. On the occasion Parliamentary leader of Awami National Party in the Provincial Assembly Sardar Hussain Babak criticised the provincial government for the ADP and declared that the budget was a deficit budget. Sardar Babak said that when the ANP government was leaving office there was a ‘throw forward’ fund was Rs 151 billion.

PTI Lawmaker Jamshed Khan from PK-27 of Mardan blasted the government for ignoring his constituency in development projects and focusing only on the areas of Atif Khan. The finance minister Muzaffar assured the floor of the house that releases would be made in time and said that they have put more running schemes and fewer new schemes in the ADP to control the throw forward. Pakistan Peoples Party’s Fakhr Azam criticised the provincial government for releasing funds to the four districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, adding that the government was doing nothing for far-flung areas of KP including southern district.

Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, in response appreciated his suggestion for improving the performance of the government, adding that that they had promised to bring the performance of government schools to parity with private schools and initiate beginner English classes in government schools. At the end Senior Mininster Shahram Khan Tarkai and Babar Saleem MPA clash adjourned the assembly session.
