A scenic waterfall hidden on Sydney’s doorstep has sent social media users into a spin after a video of the spectacular spot was shared online. TikTok user jadesimkins posted the video of Carrington Waterfall in Budderoo National Park, about two hours south of the New South Wales capital, last week. While some people commented the spot looked like a great weekend road-trip destination, many others said swimming to edge of the 130 metre drop was jaw-droppingly dangerous. ‘Beautiful part of the world,’ one person said. ‘You’ve got guts getting that close to the edge with moving water. I’m scared just looking at you,’ another said. ‘This is so dangerous and it is slippery,’ a third said. ‘It’s beautiful but the actions your promoting can be fatal,’ a fourth argued. A warning has been posted on the TikTok video advising ‘The actions in this video coudl result in serious injury or adverse health effects’. ‘Beautiful part of the world,’ one person said The Carrington Falls is a plunge waterfall in the Southern Highlands region of New South Wales. The area has three lookouts and picnic areas, which were recently re-opened to the public after bushfires raged through the area in 2016. There are also a number of walking tracks for those feeling energetic with one hike winding from the plateau down to the valley floor. Many people are looking for domestic holiday destinations after international travel ground to halt in 2020 during the coronavirus pandemic. Areas such as Broome on Western Australia scenic north coastline and north Queensland have experienced a surge in travel bookings with many accommodation providers saying they have been booked out. Outback Queensland Tourism Association chief executive Denis Brown said remote areas of her state had been seeing unprecedented tourist numbers. ‘We’ve got Porches, Mustangs, Ferraris I even saw a Rolls Royce out here,’ Ms Brown previously told the ABC. Tourist agencies are hoping some of the $30billion in international tourist lost from the economy can be injected back in by holidaymakers spending in Australia rather than heading overseas.
