LAHORE: A high level delegation of China Aerospace Construction Corporation met Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif here on Thursday. The Chinese company expressed interest in investments in housing, water supply, sanitation and wastewater treatment sectors during the meeting. Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said that new dimensions of economic relations are emerging between Pakistan and China. China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has created large scale opportunities of investment for Chinese investors in Pakistan and various Chinese companies are coming to invest in different sectors in Pakistan, he added. CM Shehbaz said that cooperation of Chinese company will be welcomed in housing, water supply, sanitation and wastewater treatment sectors. He said that facilities are being provided to Chinese companies on priority basis. The Chief Minister said that Punjab government has started a mega project of clean drinking water for the people of the province. He said that under this programme of billions of rupees, supply of drinkable water to millions of people of villages will be ensured during the next two years. He said that Punjab government is also implementing a comprehensive programme of sanitation and wastewater treatment. Chinese company’s vice president, Dr Li Naihong said that his company wants to enhance co-operation with the Punjab government in different sectors including housing, water supply, sanitation and wastewater treatment. Provincial Minister for Housing Tanvir Aslam Malik, MPA Chaudhry Shehbaz Ahmed, Chairman Planning and Development, concerned secretaries, Lahore Division Commissioner, Lahore Development Authority Director General, WASA Managing Director and other senior officials were also present on the occasion.
