Additional Inspector General of Police (South Punjab) retired Captain Zafar Iqbal Awan has said that full crackdown orders have been issued to the field force to control crime in South Punjab. A special operation was launched in all the districts this month which yielded positive results. He said that there was no room for the police personnel involved in immorality and obstruction of justice. He expressed these views while addressing police officers and various delegations of citizens on the occasion of his visit to Bahawalpur Range on Tuesday. Earlier, on his arrival in Bahawalpur, the AIG was received by Bahawalpur RPO Zubair Ahmed Dareshk and the DPO of Bahawalpur. Iqbal added that the Punjab government has set up the AIG South Punjab office to solve the problems of the people at their doorsteps which will benefit the police personnel along with the general public. He said that he would make frequent visits to Bahawalpur and Dera Ghazi Khan ranges and would also conduct unannounced inspections of police stations while resolving public grievances on the spot. He said that police officer should go out in the field and increase public contact. He said that every young police officer was an ambassador of the department and all possible steps would be taken for his welfare. Completion of construction work of PHP posts stressed Additional IG Punjab (Highway Patrol) Shahid Hanif has said that construction work on PHP posts in different districts of the province should be completed at the earliest and no delay in the release of construction funds will be tolerated. He said that the Kolian Par patrolling post in Quaid-e-Azam Colony, Rawalpindi, should be made operational as soon as possible and the officers should complete the work within the deadline under their personal supervision. He said this at a high-level meeting held at the Central Police Office here on Wednesday. The meeting was attended by PHP DIG Dr Abid Khan and SP Headquarters Afzal Nazir. Hanif said that a request would be made to the IGP for the construction of new PHP posts and release of funds so that best possible environment and facilities could be provided to the force and the performance graph could be further improved. He said that for the convenience and protection of the people on the highways, the PHP officers and volunteers should continue to perform their duties with full responsibility and duty without caring for their own lives as protection of the lives and property of the people and selflessness.
