Understanding the challenges in the regional and global context in the backdrop of India’s provocative policy is itself a challenge, given the inhumane treatment of all non-Hindus and low-caste Hindus at the hands of RSS-inspired Hindu supremacists. It is a challenge because these supremacist tendencies don’t correspond with the tall claim of Indians to be the biggest democracy of the world. The tall claim of being the biggest democracy apart, India has always taken pride in its secularism or equal treatment of all the classes and categories of people adhering to different religions and ideologies. On ground, the things have neither been secular nor democratic, at least in the treatment of minorities across India, more so in IIOJK (Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir) where worst type of atrocities have been committed for years and years together under the state patronage just because the majority of Kashmiri people demanding plebiscite and the right of self-determination in accordance with the UN Security Council’s resolutions don’t profess the faith of the majority (Hinduism), because of being Muslims. In many parts of India, the violent activists of Rashtriya Swayamsevak. The world famous Noam Chomsky has summarized the Kashmir catastrophe quite realistically, calling it a tragedy bigger than the ones born of fascist Nazism and Cold War Sangh (RSS), the spiritual guru of the ruling party, BJP, have been infiltrating minorities’ public properties and places of worship and entertainment, disrupting their gatherings and subjecting them to inhuman treatment with impunity. The underlying thought behind this contemptuous treatment of Kashmiri Muslims in IIOJK and of minorities inside India is the same ideology of Hindu supremacy so much so that the Hindu supremacists or followers of Hindutva hate the ‘low castes’ within their own religion, like, for instance, Shoodras and Dalits that are called ‘untouchables’. If the ‘superior’ ones can hate and maltreat their own ‘lowly’ brethren-in-faith, how can they be nice and humane to people from other faiths who are in minority? The other root cause of this atrocious treatment meted out to minorities and Kashmiris, is the BJP-led and RSS-inspired government’s love for jingoism that is also a byproduct of the same superiority complex by way of which India has also been treating its neighbour states as its satellites under the spell of its dream of self-aggrandizement or ‘Akhand Bharat’ (the great, grand India). Initially, these nefarious activities were camouflaged under the clouds of confusion formed by the unending bombardment of fifth-generation propaganda/hybrid war waged by India with special reference to hiding its excesses perpetrated, without a pause, in IIOJK. But now the Indian bestialities stand exposed to a considerable extent, though the world conscience is still in hibernation. A lot more needs to be done to restore organized life in Occupied Kashmir that has virtually turned into the largest prison of the world because of one-year siege and stringent restrictions on movement, media and telecommunications. The world famous Noam Chomsky has summarized the Kashmir catastrophe quite realistically, calling it a tragedy bigger than the ones born of fascist Nazism and Cold War. According to Noam Chomsky, illegallities committed by Indian government of Narendra Modi in Kashmir, have ended organized life on Earth. As for the role of Pakistan and Pakistani plus Kashmiri diaspora in the influential western world, it is picking up momentum. Our Foreign Office is also pursuing a proactive foreign policy vis-a-vis Kashmir. Prime Minister Imran Khan, in particular, has reiterated Pakistan’s principled support for Kashmir cause, in the light of Security Council resolutions, during his address to the UNGA the other day. The PM is rather making use of every available opportunity, at the international level, to highlight Indian atrocities in Kashmir and the sad plight of Palestinians besides trying to convince the global fraternity that the unjustified Islamphobia is the root cause of many ills and that it is founded on baseless misinterpretations and misconceptions.
