JAMRUD: The Khyber Khassadar Force claimed to have seized at least 66 kilograms of narcotics and arrested three locals in two separate incidents in the Bara sub-division on Sunday. The Assistant Political Agent (APA) Jamrud Zia Ur Rehman told the media persons that the first incident happened on the Bara-Jamrud Road when a car bearing registration no. B-5908, moving towards Jamrud was stopped by the Khyber Khassadar Force (KKF) personnel at the Sam Ghakhi check post. The officials were able to recover 43 kilograms of Hashish and 18 kilograms of Opium from hidden parts of the car during thorough search. The driver of the car Noor Muhammad was taken into custody and was shifted to tehsil office Jamrud for further investigations. Similarly in another incident, the KKF on security cover with a polio vaccination team at Shakas recovered some some 5 kilogram hashish from two locals. The two persons were also taken into custody on grounds of possessing the contraband substance. APA Jamrud said that the political administration was taking effective steps to stop the smuggling of any sort of narcotics. A huge quantity of narcotics was seized in raids at different check posts in the past few months. An official source in the Political Agent Khyber office revealed that Political Agent Khyber Khalid Mehmood has shown a personal interest in tackling the narcotics business in Khyber Agency and had instructed his subordinates to go all out against drug traffickers. The political administration was able to conduct a number of raids on narcotics manufacturing factories in Wazir Dhand area of Jamrud where the said factories were sealed and their owners were sent behind the bars.
