The number of total active coronavirus cases across the country have plunged to 8,987 where around 482 tested Covid-19 positive and 12 people died due to virus in the past 24 hours across country. No coronavirus affected patient is on ventilator in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Gilgit Baltistan (GB) and Balochistan. The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Wednesday issued the latest statistics of Covid-19 deaths, positive cases and recovered patients across the country. As many as 12 people lost their lives due to Covid-19 during last 24 hours. Out of the total deceased, 11 died in hospitals and one out of hospital. As many as 113 ventilators are currently occupied across country out of 1,920 ventilators allocated for Covid-19 patients. Amid fears of another wave of coronavirus due to lack of implementation upon precautionary measures at tourist spots, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Wednesday directed to boost the testing process at the tourism destinations to avoid any untoward situation. The NCOC meeting headed by Federal Minister Asad Umar was briefed by the provincial officials regarding the ongoing coronavirus situation and measures adopted to tackle it. The meeting stressed upon implementing coronavirus SOPs at the tourism spots in the country.On August 23, five hotels in Naran and Kaghan were sealed after some of the hotel staffers in the area tested positive for coronavirus. The Punjab government on Wednesday imposed ‘micro smart lockdowns’ in more localities of six cities of Punjab to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus. According to the Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department, small localities in Lahore, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Gujrat, Attock, and Sialkot have been sealed for 14 days after they reported coronavirus cases.
