Sixteen-years old Muhammad Huzaifa from Multan made headlines when he topped the Matric board results with a stunning 1,050 out of 1,100 marks. But what really made this kid’s achievement commendable is that he works at the juice stall of his uncle to support his family. Maria B; Pakistan’s renowned fashion icon and designer, was really moved by Huzaifa’s story and felt her responsibility to support this brilliant youngster. Following inquiries by Maria B. Cares with the family, we found that Huzaifa; an orphan is the eldest among his four siblings. His two maternal uncles support Huzaifa and his family in spite of their own limited means. The elder uncle has six children of his own and operates a juice cart to make ends meet. Huzaifa helps him out in the evening to bring in the much needed income for the combined family. The younger uncle teaches at a local school and has gotten all the children of his sister and brother enrolled into school. On the occasion of Huzaifa results, Maria has said “We are delighted by Huzaifa’s potential and wish him the best in his onward journey. We are grateful to support Huzaifa’s siblings and cousins and our little contribution is part of our commitment to seeing Pakistan grow into a strong nation. We certainly have the potential.” Huzaifa’s outstanding result got him a full scholarship at the GC University Lahore. However, the family was apprehensive to send him to another city and also worried about the family expenses. They could not even afford sending Huzaifa to a college in Multan that had offered partial scholarship. Motivated to support this inspiring family, Maria B. Cares convinced Huzaifa’s uncle to get him enrolled in the GC University and also felt honoured to announce a monthly stipend to cover the school education expenses of all the children in the combined family. The first payment has already been made to the family for prompt relief.
