LAHORE: Former Pakistan all-rounder and bowling coach Azhar Mahmood has been included in England’s coaching staff ahead of the upcoming three-match T20I series against Pakistan in Manchester. The 45-year-old Azhar will join the support staff as an assistant coach. “England Young Lions coach Jon Lewis will be the bowling coach and he is to be supported by former Pakistan international and bowling coach Azhar Mahmood,” England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said in a statement. Graham Thrope, who is the assistant coach of England, will serve the head coach role for the T20I series. Paul Collingwood will serve as assistant coach whereas Marcus Trescothick and James Foster have been appointed as batting and fielding coach respectively. It must be noted that Azhar was Pakistan’s team bowling coach from 2016-2019. His last assignment with the national team was the ICC 2019 World Cup.
