CDGL introduces e-stamp paper system in city

LAHORE: The City District Government Lahore (CDGL) with the cooperation of Board of Revenue and Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) has launched an e-stamp paper system in the provincial capital to curb the stamp paper fraud and ensure transparency along with the security of properties. A launching ceremony of e-stamp paper was held at Town Hall on Monday. DCO Lahore Captain (r) Muhammad Usman, Additional District Collector (revenue) Irfan Nawaz Memon, PITB Director General (e-governance) Sajid Latif, Additional District Collector (general) Asfandyar Bloch, sub-registrars and registration employees were present on the occasion. According to details, two types of e-stamps, including judicial and non-judicial, would be made available for the citizens. Judicial stamps would be used in relation to the administration of justice in courts and non-judicial stamps would be used on documents related to the transfer of property, commercial agreements etc. while, the stamp papers worth above Rs 1,000 would be referred to as high-value stamp papers. The DCO said that e-stamp paper would not only be helpful in eliminating fake stamp papers business across the city, but would also ensure protection of properties of the people. He said that this system would be helpful to generate more revenue, and appealed the citizens to create awareness among their friends, colleagues’ and relatives regarding this new e-stamp paper system, so that people could check online complete information related to their properties. On the occasion, Sajid Latif said that purpose of this system was to prevent paper and process-related fraudulent practices, corruption, counterfeiting, leakage of government revenues and store information in electronic form and build a central database to make ease of the verification process. He said that e-stamp paper was already working in ten districts of the Punjab, adding that CDGL would improve this system with the help of people.
