LAHORE: Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has sealed several food and milk shops, as unhygienic, substandard and germ-infested items were found in their premises. The authority also lodged an FIR against the alleged accused in their respective areas during a crackdown held across the city on Wednesday. Under the supervision of PFA Operations Director Ayesha Mumtaz, Allama Iqbal and Gulberg Town teams conducted raids in the Sundar Industrial Estate and inspected numerous industries. The PFA inspection team sealed Millac Foods over multiple hygiene issues, including no food licence, presence of expired food products and palm oil, food storage in chemical drams and adulteration of vegetable fat in instant milk powder. Separately, Aziz Bhatti and Wahga Town teams sealed ARY Catering, Al-Sheikh Chana Shop and EFC Burger for not adopting cleanliness SOPs in their premises. The PFA team found insects on items in the food production section, inappropriate arrangements of food storage besides other issues. PFA Ravi Town also carried out a raid and sealed Mashallah Milk Shop for selling substandard milk and not giving medical coverage to the workers. The PFA team sent a sample of milk for laboratory test to further probe the issue. Further, PFA Samnabad Town registered an FIR in the Muslim Town Police Station against Mama Sweets over substandard and unhygienic items and sealed the shop. Food Safety Officer Tahira Kalsoom said that the place was extremely dirty, as the PFA team found rotten food in their refrigerators.
