Islamic parties of Bangladesh on Friday held a protest demonstration here in front of Bait ul Mukaram mosque against the unprovoked attacks and killing of Muslims in New Delhi. The protest culminated near the BNP’s Naya Paltan Office in Old Dhaka. The protestors carrying anti-India banners condemned attacks on mosques and madaris and oppression of the Muslims in India by raising slogans. The protesters also burnt an effigy of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and sought cancellation of an invitation sent to him to attend Sheikh Mujeeb ur Rehamn birth centenary celebrations. The protesters announced that if government fails to cancel the invitation, they will hold a demonstration in front of the airport when Modi arrives. They said the next program schedule for the protest demonstrations will be announced after a meeting by Hifazat e Islam and other Islamic party leaders.
