In exercise of his powers conferred under Section 42(2) of the Health Services Academy (Restructuring) Act, 2018, President Dr Arif Alvi has approved appointment of Health Services Academy Executive Director Dr Assad Hafeez as first vice chancellor of the Health Services Academy. The president appointed the senior most officer out of a panel of three public health specialists nominated in the summary forwarded to the President’s Secretariat by the Prime Minister’s Office. The Health Services Academy (HSA) is a public sector training institute which offers postgraduate programs in Public Health, including PhD and MSPH in Public Health and Masters in Health Economics and Management. The HSA was granted Degree Awarding Status in May 2018. The number of graduated students is more than 2000.Dr Hafeez is a renowned academician and administrator in public health with clinical and management experience in various capacities spanning over 30 years. He was also performing duties as DG Health. Following his assumption of office of the vice chancellor, a new director general health will be posted.
