LAHORE: A group art exhibition titled ‘The Budding Artists’, jointly organised by Arts and Crafts Forum (ACF) in collaboration with the Lahore Arts Council, kicked off at Alhamra Arts Council on Tuesday. As many as 200 art pieces of 32 artists were hung on the wall for visitors on the first day of the exhibition. The artists have used almost all the existing techniques in their artwork including traditional calligraphy, calligraphic painting, printmaking, fresco painting, miniature painting, water colours, oil painting, sculpture, pastel work, ceramic pieces, drawings and photography. On the first day, a large number of art lovers and people from different walks of life thronged to the gallery and admired the artwork on display. Lahore Arts Council Executive Director Atta Muhammad Khan appreciated the artwork and assured his council’s full support to budding artists. The ACF representative said ACF is a platform to promote unknown, newcomers and budding artists, whereas the forum is committed to excavate the dying arts, heritage and culture. “The Budding Artists exhibition is the commitment towards its motto and we are flag bearers of protection of our languages and heritage,” he added. The artists participating in the show included Faiza Gondal, Faisha Irfan, Tazeela Khan, Mehreen Naseem, Kiran Zulfiqar, Fouzia Rehmat, Quratul Ain, Atika Fareed, Tayyaba Kanwal, Dr Tuba Ali, Zulfiqar, Hamid Azeemi, Saba Tanveer, Kinza Saleem, Uzma Nazir, Ayesha Asghar, Shakeel Iftikhar, Samia Yaqoob, Khadija Ramzan, Saad Mehmood, Madiha Iram, Shabnam Abbas, Pakeeza, Huma Taffakher, Madiha Riaz, Seemi Mirza, Rubab Razzaque, Aqsa Akbar Khan, Javid Iqbal, Salma Khalid, Hassan and Ahmad Zulfiqar. The exhibition will remain open till Friday.
