Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar on Thursday said that the government was in consultation with Jamiat Ulema Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) in the national interest, not after being pressurised. Talking to the media after participating in anti-dengue awareness walk, organized by Social Welfare & Baitul Maal Department at Governor House, he said that JUI-F chief Maulana Fazalur Rehman would also agree upon dialogue process, adding that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government has focused its all attentions towards Kashmir issue and revival of national economy. The protests and sit-ins at this time could cause damage to Kashmir issue and national interests, therefore the opposition should understand that country cannot afford any damage to Kashmir cause. The Governor said that the nation was united and committed to provide all support to Kashmiris against Indian atrocities and brutalities in occupied Kashmir so that the opposition should avoid politics of protests and sit-ins for national interest. Governor said that the government had not imposed any restriction on Maulana Fazalur Rehman’s speech on media but it was Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA), an independent and autonomous institution of country that imposed ban on Maulana’s speech, adding that PEMRA’s action should not be associated with the government. Earlier, addressing on occasion of awareness walk, he said that healthy society was imperative for the progress and development of any country so that we should strive hard to ensure cleanliness in our surroundings for elimination of diseases, adding that government was taking effective and efficient measures to eliminate the dengue and provision of better healthcare facilities to the people. Royal Couple meet Punjab governor In another development, Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Prince William and Kate Middleton on Thursday held a meeting with Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar at Lahore airport and discussed Pakistan-Britain bilateral relations besides other important matters. Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar and British High Commissioner Thomas Drew were also present on the occasion. The Punjab Governor along with Chief Minister warmly received the Royal guests at the airport, whereas the children presented flower bouquets to Prince Williams and Kate Middleton. The British High Commissioner Thomas Drew, during the meeting, informed Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Prince William and Kate Middleton that Governor Punjab Chaudhry Sarwar was a former British parliamentarian with the distinction of being the first Muslim member of parliament of House of Commons. Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar and Chief Minister Usman Buzdar also presented some presents including Derawar Fort’s painting and customary shawl to the Royal couple.
