Unfolding Nimerta’s case

Unfolding Nimerta’s caseAnother flower of Sindh withered. Her lively smile vanished. Her philanthropist activities came to an end. Her vivacious nature is gone. She is gone forever. She will never return to her family ever. Her name is Nimerta Chandeni-student of Asifa Dental College, Larkana. She has left deep imprints in the minds of masses with her smiley photos. Nimerta’s family will never be same their wings have been clipped. It is very hard to move on. They will live in morose.

Her death has left many questions for the people of Sindh and relevant authorities. Some labeling it as a suicide yet the majority considers it a brutal murder.

Dr. Vishal Chandeni, deceased brother termed it as a MURDER by seeing her body. The provisional post-mortem report mentioned it as a suicide. As per her brother- who was available when post-mortem was being done “He said there were red marks on her wrist and arm which provisional report blatantly ignored.

Even Dawn’s report published few days ago about autopsy experts raised doubts over the fundamentals of autopsy labeling it as “fabricated”. Maybe to save the university’s management and especially Vice-Chancellor. Since postmortem was done at the same hospital. Ignominiously, Nimerta’s dead body was brought on old “khattara” vehicle because Ambulance wasn’t available in medical university. What a Shame !!!

It is very important to discuss the role of Vice-Chancellor Aneela Atta ur Rehman whose administrative negligence and unprofessional behavior is worth condemning and deplorable. Without analyzing her body she referred to it as ” suicide” just to save her own skin. Later, instead of a solacing bereaved family she slapped a local journalist there and threatened her. It is worth mentioning that her relationship with students and the university’s administration has always been of tumult.

On the demand of family, Sindh government after long hours of sitting has nodded for the judicial inquiry which is yet to be initiated. Reports say that Session judge of Larkana has outrightly denied the judicial inquiry.

There are some questions that need to be answered:

1. If she committed suicide why there was deep round wound on her neck instead of being V-shape? Whosoever commits suicide this way, V-shape occurs its neck.

2. Students and teachers who reside there have repeatedly pronounced that a chair-which was seen in pictures cannot be placed on the bed even for a while.

3. How a 5 feet girl can hang herself on a fan that is 15 feet above? Moreover, there is a stark difference between a suicidal knot and genocidal knot?

4. How can there be no scratch on the fan? How can a fan be rolling?

5. Why marks on her wrist were not mentioned in the autopsy report?

6. Her neck didn’t stretch; eyes didn’t swell and came out as happens normally in suicide cases. Why?

Furthermore, it is imperative to take notice of some unemployed and planted journalists who are seeing it as an opportunity to earn some money from the people sitting in power corridors. They are hell-bent on proving it as a mere suicide happened because of some love affair. Plus, university management through their favorite journalists has released two CCTV videos of deceased one of which actually belongs to Kashmiri students.

This is dehumanizing. Stop character assassination. You have daughters too. Don’t put yourself down to such lowest ebb.

Unfortunately, the ruling party has not taken this as a priority. Everyone is busy in covering Khursheed Shah and Muraad Shah. If Bilawal could call a press conference at 1 A.M for Khursheed Shah he could have consoled or telephoned her family too. Adding another feather in PPP’s hat, not even any minister has visited them.

This is a test case for SSP Masood Banghash and his team. Although he enjoins the 200% confidence of Nimerta’s family and Hindu community yet this case will be decisive for his credentials.

In addition, there are no forensic experts who could gather evidence, finger-prints or any work of this kind. This must be resolved.

Mehran Abro and his fellow are taken for investigation purpose only. Stop accusing them unless proven guilty. Stop defaming them. For the sake of information Mehran’s father is retired Head of operations UBL, Sukkur division. so stop saying they looted Nimerta financially.

Lastly, Nimerta’s death if goes in vain. There are more Nimerta’s coming. Could be your sisters, daughters or wives and then there will be no one for you to stand and raise a voice.

This is high time to protest and let the media and government not forget this case. Else, her smile will haunt you forever. She has left a debt on the people of Sindh.

Stage protests; come out for her unless her murderers walk to the gallows of death.
