The Rawalpindi Police announced to conduct an operation against those who share pictures of themselves being armed with weapons on the social media, as well as illicit arms holders, on Monday. According to a police spokesperson, City Police Officer (CPO) Faisal Rana issued directions to conduct comprehensive operations in the areas where illicit arm holders are reported to being living, with the aim of making “Rawalpindi Arms free”. Moreover, legal action will be initiated against those who share pictures with weapons on social media. Arms and ammunition are the root cause of crimes, as well as a violation of law and order in the society. Murders, robberies and other heinous crime will not occur if we manage to control illicit arms, the CPO said while chairing a departmental meeting. The target of the Rawalpindi Police is to make the city “arms free” and we will take all possible steps for fulfilling this purpose, staying within the limits of law, he added. Extraordinary picketing, monitored by a gazetted officer may be carried out on all the entry and exit points to check for illegal arms, the CPO said.
