SHANGLA: Two suspects have been arrested by Shangla police for allegedly raping a 10-year-old school girl in Lilonai area of Shangla district. In accordance to the FIR registered, the girl along with her father came to Alpuri police station and reported that the two men had raped her on Sept 5 when she was returning to home from her school. “Both the accused caught me and took me to cornfields where they sexually assaulted me,” the school girl said. In her statement she further added that that after sexually assaulting her, the two men threatened her by showed her a knife and gave her Rs 200 to stay silent. The girl while giving the statement said that the she was warned of death in case she revealed her ordeal to anyone. According to the statement the girl said she could not immediately approach or tell anyone since her parents were not home. She said her parents were informed by her about the rape after they returned. The police lodged an FIR under sections 506,376,53 and 48, and investigation is underway. Report released by NGO Sahil revealed that with more than 10 children suffering from some form of abuse daily in Pakistan last year, cases of child abuse in the country increased by 11 per cent in year 2018 in comparison to 2017.
