KHYBER AGENCY: An annual government-run-schools sports gala aimed to enhance extra-curricular activities among the students was initiated here on the ground of the Government Centennial High School,of Landi Kotal.

The sports event continued for seven days and the players of government centennial high schools, Landi Kotal, Mohammad Khan Kalley, Khaar Ghaley, Zintara, Dorma Kor, Loy-Shelman and Kam-Shelman demonstrated their talents in various games including soccer, volleyball, cricket and athletics.

The annual students games were organised by the director FATA with the assistance of the political administration of Khyber Agency.

Beside the Tehsildar Landi Kotal, Irshad Mohmand as chief guest, Agency Education Officer (AEO) Khyber Agency, Jadoon Khan, a large number of students, headmasters, teaching staff and local tribesmen witnessed the concluding ceremony of games.

Speaking on the occasion Irshad Mohmand congratulated the organisers for initiating unusual activity and said along with education, sports was an essential commodity for healthy minds, adding, great talent lay in sports in the tribal belt which needed to be streamlined. He further said, the territory of Khyber is rich in sports and its players had shown their talent at the national level.

Prior to it, in the final match of the football the Government Centennial High Schools, Landi Kotal beat the Government High School, Mohammad Khan, while in the cricket final, Shelman High School outclassed the Government High School, Zen Tara.
