LAHORE: Blue Sax, Pakistan’s pioneer blues/jazz band enthralled the audience with their fabulous performance held at The Guitar School on Monday.

The gig was organised to familiarise music lovers with this genre. The performance of Blue Sax was a part of the music series/shows which are being organised by The Guitar School’s management. While, this was the first performance in this series, the next performances by different music bands consisting of students mainly, will be held in the upcoming months.

The band comprises of Salman Majeed on bass, Steve George on guitars, Nadeem Hassan Tafu on drums and Kushvaha on saxophone and vocals.

Blue Sax has tried to address the social issues of this society through their performance by singing tracks like “Paisa” and “Babu”, which are being widely appreciated.

Their main saxophone player and vocalist Talha Ali Kushvaha said that blues as a genre is also characterized by its lyrics, bass lines and instrumentation and they introduced this in Pakistan in 2011. He said that they have performed at various events including corporate launches and received immense appreciation and a positive response initially, however it was quite challenging for them to introduce something new like blues and jazz in the Pakistani market.

Agha Mir Ali, 9, a student at The Guitar School, said that such types of concerts were a good initiative to boost the music industry and which can play a vital role to introduce new vocalists, drummers, and guitarists to society. He further said that it was a friendly and proactive activity for people.

The Guitar School Head Instructor Muhammad Abid Khan, while exclusively talking to Daily Times said that three more shows were lined up which will be presented to the people including The Guitar School’s student performances and other different artists like Muazam Mir.
