RAWALPINDI: The ruling party PML-N has gained an overwhelming majority in the second phase of the local bodies elections on the reserved seats in District Council Rawalpindi as it has won 22 seats out of 25. The elections were held on 15 women seats, five minorities, three farmers’ seats and one seat for the youth at the hall of Rawal Town. District Officer (Revenue), Tariq Rahim was deputed as the returning officer The unofficial results spelt that on the 15 women seats ,11 candidates from the PML-N returned the elections while two independent candidates and one candidate of the PTI won the elections. The result of the election at the Morgah constituency was stopped as the matter is in the court. Those who won on the reserved seats of local bodies under the electoral sign of “lion” included Tanvir Chohan, Hina Zamir, Robina Bibi, Shazia Abbasi, Abida Malik, Shagufta Sultana, Ashiya Aamir, Farhat Jabin, Farzana Azad, Bushra Ansar, Mehwish Shahzadi. One Rashida Bibi from the PTI and two independent candidates Saima Liaquat and Nabila Inam were declared successful. On the three seats reserved for the farmers PML-N’s Shaukat Iqbal Janjua, Imran Aslam and Malik Masood won the elections. Similarly on the five minorities seats PML-N’s Salim Masih, Shahnaz Kanam, Tahir Pitras, Younas Masih, and Victor Daniel were declared winners while on a reserved seat for the youth, Taimoor Khan of the PML-N won.
