The deadly Crimean-Congo Haemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) claimed the life of a man in Karachi and death toll from the tick-born viral disease has climbed to 14 in the megacity this year. Director General Health Services Sindh Dr Masood Ahmed Solangi said a 32-year-old Muhammad Kafee, son of Muhammad Khalil, a resident of Korangi No 6 area of Karachi, was brought to Ziauddin Hospital in North Nazimabad about two days ago with fever, body ache, headache and loose motion. He informed that Kafeel was diagnosed Congo through lab test and died last night during treatment. He further informed that Kafeel was leather or skin collector. Dr Solangi said tick-born viral disease had infected 26 people this year so far out of which 14 died. Presently, two Congo patients are under treatment out of them one is in Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi and another in a private hospital of the city.
