Singer and actor Mohsin Abbas Haider has once again denied allegations, saying there is no evidence that he hit his wife while she was pregnant. He claimed that the story she’s telling about him is actually of her own brother that she used to tell him about. He recalled how Fatema Sohail used to tell him that her brother, who wanted to marry someone else, didn’t want a baby and so he would kick his wife’s belly. Mohsin Abbas Haider said that he would claim guilty if Fatema Sohail denies this on holy Quran. The actor cum DJ said that he was on shooting when his son was delivered. “Although we were separated, I still went to see my son along with my family,” he said. He said that he bore all the expenses of his wife’s delivery and paid hospital bills, adding that he has bank statements for this. Sohail had in a social media post shared how her husband used to abuse her. Separately, actor Hamza Ali Abbasi has said that Mohsin should be made a horrible example for beating his pregnant wife. In response to a question about how she should have a medical test done in order to file the FIR, Sohail said, ‘I’ve told you over and over that the pictures I shared on social media were from 2018 and in the four years of my marriage, I was abused often. I never had the intention to come out in the public about this I couldn’t open my mouth because he slapped me so hard’ Taking to Twitter, the actor gave his two cents on the domestic abuse allegations levelled against Mohsin by his wife. He said that he has never met Sohail but everything she and Gohar Rasheed said is true. “#MohsinAbbasHaidar Have never met her but everything Fatima Sohail/Gohar Rasheed said is true. He told me about it as Fatima’s friends including him were trying to help her as she went to the hospital after being beaten up by Mohsin while she was pregnant with Mohsin’s child,” he wrote in his first Tweet. Mohsin said on Monday that he was hoping to end “this battle of truth and lies” and that the issue was “obviously a family matter”. Speaking to media outside the police station, Mohsin said, “This was our first sitting with the Superintendent of Police. We’ve come out with a very positive meeting. Things, Insha Allah, will go towards some improvement. I hope we can get out of this battle of truth and lies and this is obviously a family matter. At the end of the day, it’s a family matter. We’re trying to get it resolved in a good, proper and moral manner.” In response to a reporter’s question about what his decision would be – a divorce or something else – the actor said he would discuss it as the meeting on Monday was the first one. “Let’s see which side do things go,” he stated. Mohsin, however, said it would take time and talk with both his family and his lawyers before he would make a decision. “This is a matter of lives. It’s a matter of who in the long term has to suffer. I’ll be discussing it with my family and lawyers,” he said. Sohail, on the other hand also said on Monday that she was “getting so many messages from women saying that they’re going through similar situations”. Sohail spoke to the media following a visit to the local police station. She talked about how the case had changed for her because it was not just herself that she was fighting for but other women as well. “The women told me ‘we did not – we still don’t – have the kind of courage that you have but we’re living with abusive husbands who beat us very often’,” she said. “I sort of went into shock because I was going to fight for my child’s rights but this is so prevalent. This is something else. I’m now fighting for my women as well. Take a stand, come out and speak up! God is the one who takes care of us all. These women are often financially weak, they think ‘who will take care of me, who will take care of my children?’,” she noted. Sohail further underlined that “these women are afraid” of being utterly financially dependent on their husbands and “it’s worrisome”. She urged the women who were facing domestic abuse and violence to take a step forward. “Please come out and speak up. Women have said to me they want to soak up but I’m not sure if they would actually be able to or not. They just have the same fear – being financially weak.” Later, outside the police station, she said she was going to stay determined about her application. “Whatever they asked, I’m telling them,” she noted. However, she said, “The First Information Report (FIR) is still not being registered. I don’t know what the reason behind this is or if there is any kind of pressure from somewhere but the FIR was not registered.” In response to a reporter’s question about how she should have a medical test done in order to file the FIR on the basis of a subsequent report, Sohail said, “I’ve told you over and over again that the pictures I shared on social media were from 2018 and in the four years of my marriage, I was abused often. I never had the intention to come out in the public” about this. “I couldn’t open my mouth because he slapped me so hard,” she said.
