Making Pakistan green again

Author: Komal Ishtiaq

The sun is out and at an all-time high. The temperature is skyrocketing. This year’s summer is hotter than last year’s. The highest temperature recording in Pakistani this year has been 54 degrees and the reason is cutting down of trees.

More and more the trees cut, the greater would be the temperature and as we are the citizens of Pakistan so we people are affected by this temperature. The focus of us is to build lavish life style and that is only possible through making fine-looking houses so the simpler way is to cut trees and it endangered our wild life living in the forests. One of the major reasons of global warming is declining greenery which causes the area to look like a barren piece of land. Even if we draw a comparison between the intense heat of Pakistan and the deserted area both are standing at the same place. The desert even becomes cooler at night but not the case in Pakistan. More the trees, foliage would be more the place become breezy to live.

The intense heat is affecting wildlife as well. Animals caged in zoos are suffering owing to lack of arrangements for them in the heat. These animals get lazy and inactive and some also die. The wildlife in forests is also affected due to unnecessary deforestation.

We as the citizens of Pakistan, our greatest desire are to make it a healthy land with a clean environment to breathe and that is only possible through our contributions. Our contributions will definitely bring a good change in the environment as well as make the weather more pleasant. By growing more and more plants inside or outside, means you can plant small trees, bunches in your houses as well as you sow seeds in some public places too, believe me! Nobody will fine you for doing this. You can water the plants you grow in order to prevent them from being dried up. You can encourage other people as well like your friends to grow greenery in their homes as well as you can plant small trees, sowing seeds in your educational institutions, by telling your parents to grow some greenery at their working place. You can create awareness amidst others by giving speech, by debating, by showing some skit on this matter in your school, college etc.

You can also start campaigns about how growing trees will benefit our country, publishing pamphlets, the more the people get educated, the better our environment becomes. These steps will certainly help you to bring a clean and wholesome environment in the region you reside in and it is the small part from you side to bring in a lush green environment.

Help make Pakistan a healthier place to live! Keep it clean and make it green.
