Although Pakistan wants dialogue with India, this should not be deemed its weakness, asserted Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan on Friday. He was addressing a press conference held here in Kashmir House after the Inaugural Ceremony of International Journal of Kashmir Study under the auspices of Policy and Research Forum. PM Haider Khan noted that we should not beg India to resume dialogue. “Pakistan wants a peaceful relation with India, but it should not be construed as weakness,” he explained while adding that Indian provocative actions across LoC were reprehensible, which could be countered by Pakistan in due course of time. Recalling that Kashmiris had sacrificed their men and material in the ongoing freedom struggle, AJK PM noted that political and economic stability in Pakistan strengthened Kashmir’s liberation struggle. Khan held the view that the AJK government and the leadership of political parties in the state should make joint efforts to highlight Kashmir issue over the globe. Kashmiris had sacrificed their men and materials in the ongoing freedom struggle, he maintained. The PM further said India was a despotic power that had unleashed a reign of terror in Occupied Kashmir through its 700,000 forces. Indian-held valley was said to be the largest military zone in the world. Khan recalled that Kashmiri leadership had passed the resolution of accession to Pakistan, even before the creation of the country. “We could present our case better by entering into world power corridor,” he stated. He said policy and research forum should be allowed to work with freedom. He pointed out that it was India that had taken Kashmir issue to the UNSC but despite many changes in the world, Kashmir issue could not be resolved. He called for a strong forum to be established by the AJK government and the APHC leadership to intensify efforts for highlighting the Kashmir issue. “That forum should counter Indian propaganda at the international level,” the PM explained. He further noted Narendra Modi would make bids to change the pattern of the region in the next five years. India’s narrative existed over the world, which needed to be countered, he remarked. He said Kashmiris should be included in making decisions about the future of Kashmir. He said the government aimed to take the magazine to a level where it would be quoted by international writers at a different level. He hoped that when Kashmiris raised their voice on the Kashmir issue, the world pays attention to them. He referred to BJP’s intention of ending Article 5-A and Article 370 of the Indian constitution and recommended that Pakistan should move forward under a new doctrine. He affirmed that sacrifices rendered by Kashmiris in IOK would never go to waste. The PM reaffirmed that Pakistan does not have a single world-class university while the US had scores of them. More than 20 million children in the country were said to be deprived of education. “We are paying more attention to improve the quality of education in the State,” he told. Kashmir Committee Chairman Syed Fakhar Imam spoke on the occasion and said that Pakistan would continue to politically, morally and diplomatically support the people of Kashmir. Prime Minister Imran Khan was taking effective measures to highlight Kashmir at the international level, he continued. Imam strongly condemned Indian actions from across the LoC as a result of which five Pakistani soldiers were martyred. He appealed the international community to prevail upon India to stop operations that were damaging the peace of the region. Earlier, Kashmir Liberation Cell Secretary Mansoor Qadir Dar threw some light on the importance of a research magazine. He said a policy and research forum was set up in Kashmir Liberation Cell in line with the directives of the prime minister, which aimed to highlight the Kashmir issue at the international level. He held the view that seminars and symposia should be held to highlight the atrocities and human rights abuses committed by Indian forces.
