Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi Sunday said the demand of mid-term elections is unjustified. Talking to the reporters in Jahanian, the minister said that general elections have been held in the country hardly one year ago and that there is no justification for demand of mid-term elections. “The incumbent government has also proved its clear majority during the approval of budget in the National Assembly a couple of days ago,” he said. Qureshi said the country is facing internal and external challenges. “Talks are in progress with Afghanistan and similarly matters were also under process with India,” he continued. “Under such circumstances, opposition’s demand of midterm elections is unfounded,” he added. To a question, Qureshi said dialogue process with Afghanistan is progressing in the right direction and “we are waiting for a positive outcome.” The minister expressed the hope that all challenges will be overcome under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan. Earlier, Qureshi attended the qul ceremony of brother of Chaudhry Arshid Aaraen in Chak Number 113/10-R. Makhdoom Mureed Hussain Qureshi and other notables were also present on the occasion.
