Actress Nadia Jamil recently appeared on Samina Peerzada’s show and spoke her heart out. The actress revealed that she was offered the role of Rani Mukherji’s opposite Shahrukh Khan in ‘Veer-Zaara’ by director Yash Chopra but she turned it down. She said meeting the late acclaimed director was a turning point in her career. The romantic drama film was a massive hit back in the days. Speaking about the role she was offered, she said, “The turning point in my career was when I met Yash Chopra, ‘Veer-Zaara’ was about to happen. Ammi was telling me she had come with me or take care of my children, my son was two months old then, but I knew that if I moved in this direction now it would become an addiction which I would be unable to leave.” She continued, “It would shape the kind of mother I would become. I had to choose between being a mom or an actress but there isn’t even a comparison between the two. So I turned it down, however, I became very close to Yash Chopra and his family in the process.” Jamil has always been vocal about social issues and has raised her voice against sexual abuse, child labour and child trafficking. She shared her love for working with children on the show ‘Rewind with Samina Peerzada’. She said that her volunteer experience at SOS Village and Mother Teresa Foundation was “life changing”. The actress is a mother to two adopted sons. On the work front, Jamil is set to make her television comeback with ARY Digital’s drama ‘Damsaa’ which revolves around child trafficking.
