One of Pakistan’s best live musical acts Mirage, released a desi colourful funk-rock song, “Befiker, from their second album ‘Doosri Dastak’. Indeed, featuring Rehan Nazim on vocals, Saad Hayat on keyboard, Ajay Harri on drums, Hasan Mahmud and Abid Wilson on guitars and Shane Kerr on bass, “Befiker” marks the sixth release from ‘Doosri Dasktak’, having previously released “Barhe Chalo”, ‘Panchi’ featuring Coke Studio sensation Alycia Dias, ‘Pyar Hua’, ‘Ker Daalo Pakistan’ and ‘Zara Suniye Tou’. “Befiker” has been written, composed, recorded and shot keeping in mind a simple rule of life; live and let live – be carefree, live in the moment and follow your heart. The music video for Befiker was shot based on the same theme which is visible in the colourful cinematography. Conceptualised and directed by Saad Hayat, the video has been shot at two different locations: the impressive and colourful Kiran Gali in Lyaari and the beautiful fishing community at the Mubarak Village beach located on the shore of Arabian Sea in District West of Karachi “For the video, we collaborated with the Kiran Foundation. Kiran Gali had all these multi-coloured buildings so we decided to shoot it over there. The opening shot is a one take which was pretty difficult to execute given the circumstances at that time. During the chorus there is a signature dance step that the band members perform,” Rehan Nazim and Saad Hayat said. With composition and vocals by both Saad Hayat and Rehan Nazim, Befiker features Mohsin Raza Shah on guitars, Bradley D’Souza on bass and guitars and Ajay Harri on drums. Befiker has been produced at Saad Hayat Studio in Karachi. Choreographed by Rehan Nazim, the music video for Befiker features Asghar Ali Ghanchi as Co-Director and cinematographer, Assistant Directors Asim Baluch and Adil Baluch, Art Director and Hasan Ahmed, Make-up artist: Sikandar Khan, Line producer Moiz Baluch, Location manager Zainul Abideen, Production managers Azeem Arif and Faizi with edit and post by Dominic Andrews, S Shakir Ali and Kashif Ahmed Khan. The video also features a cameo by young model and actress Zareen Khan. Credited as the best live act from Karachi and one of the best from across Pakistan, Mirage, formed by Saad Hayat on keyboards and production, Hassan Mahmood on guitars and Rehan Nazim on vocals in 2003, has been active in the local music scene and has maintained a reputation for its solid, fun and energetic live act. The band’s current live line-up also features Mohsin Raza Shah on guitars, Shane Kerr on bass and Ajay Harri on drums.
