‘Word Traitor, a propaganda tool’

Author: Abdullah Saleh Baloch

Propaganda is the way to create a point, thoughts or defame any personality, institute to stop from his works. In old times, propaganda was used in wars and peace to empower kingship. Nowadays, propaganda is being used internationally and in between countries to control the thinking of people. Some countries use media as a propaganda tool that makes minds of people, still some countries are controlling social media to engage people in its ideology, some countries are using religion and some countries use Different words like Traitor, putting charges of high treason or blaming him as blasphemous.

“Traitor” word is very old and it is used against many people, some were traitor and some were killed under this blame without any crime or killed due to his human right works, nationalism or other thinking ways. In many countries, this word is used on a daily basis to counter the opposite person.

“Traitor” word and charges are used in many countries for human right activists, journalists and politicians. A Turkish cleric “Fethullah Gulen” who exposed smuggling of Recep Erdogan and his son was declared traitor of the country. Erdogan government arrested many Gulenist and closed institution related to Gulen.

Saudi authorities have, in the past two months, detained at least 16 people, including several identified as women’s rights activists, on accusations of treason. Pro-government media printed her photo along with those of fellow feminists, branding them “traitors”. Leyla Yunus is the director of the Peace and Democracy Institute, which, among other things, worked to establish rule of law in Azerbaijan on July 2014. She has been charged with “high treason.”

The same thing has happened in our country. Politicians, journalists, human rights defenders are facing such allegations by authorities. 70 years of our country is filled with these slogans of “traitor” against politicians like Fatima Jinnah, Bacha Khan, Mujeeb ur Rehman, Zulfiqar Bhutto, Khair Bux Marri, Gaous Bux Bazenjo, Atta Ullah Mengal, Akbar Bugti. Still, Akhter Mengal and Manzoor Pashteen. They are facing such allegations without logical proofs; being called “agents of the country.”

We are not able to think about proof of these allegations, if they are traitors or agents of the enemy, then why are our authorities not consulting the international court to control enemies. Human rights defender Asma Jilani faced such allegations but she was a well-known lawyer of Pakistan.

I wrote this detailed article because of the joint pamphlet campaign of two parties, BNP(M) and Baloch Raaj, in Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur, which are facing allegations of “agents” and “traitors.”

This pamphlet campaign is about the annexation of Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur in Balochistan province, which is the old desire of the Baloch population of Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur. These areas consist of almost Baloch tribes. Propagandists are not thinking that BNP leadership is taking an oath of loyalty with Pakistan before contesting in general elections.

In the past 70 years, we accused many people as traitors and these traitors lived and died in this country. This is time We have to learn from these traitors who are speaking to strengthen the constitution of Pakistan. Traitors who are asking for the rule of laws.

The proud Pakhtoons and PTM

By Masud Ahmed Khan

Pakhtoons ruled undivided India for centuries by Ghoris, Khiljis, Suris and Lodhis.

Pakhtoon traditions assert they are descendants of the children of Israel. The Afghans trace their lineage to Yehooda, the elder son of Yaqub. Talut (Sarool) was the king of Israelites and had two wives Berkhia and Ermia. Berkhia’s son was called Asif and Ermia called his son Afghana. Asif was blessed with 18 sons, and Afghana had 40 sons.

The internal conflict forced them to migrate and settle in the Ghor, Ghazni and Kandahar (present-day Afghanistan).

All Pakhtoons claim to be descendants of four persons, Sarban, Batan, Ghorghust and Karlani, and all sons of Abu Qais. During the time of King Amanullah, Afghans were described of the Aryan origin. Because of this Aryan hype, even the Afghan airline was named Aryana. Pakhtoon and Pushtoon are referred to the language spoken. It is derived from a Persian word, “Pusht,” (back) as these tribes were living on the back of the mountain.

Some refer it to the old Persian word “Parsav Parsa,” which means robust man.

Some also refer it a tribe call Bani Pukt during the time of King Solomon. As far as word Pathan is concerned, some refer it to the title “Fathan” (the conqueror) given by Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) that became Pathan.

The majority believe that it (Pathan) was introduced and used by Hindus and British for Afghans.

Afghan, Pakhtoon, Pashtoon, Rohila, Sulaimani and Pathan are different names of the same race.

All those who live in Afghanistan are known as Afghan nationals but not Paktoons, whether they speak Pashto or are not Afghans.

In Afghanistan, besides Pakhtoons, other major ethnic groups are Tajik, Uzbek, Hazara, Aimaq, Farsiwan, Barohi, Turkmen, Baloch and Noorstani.

Saudi authorities have, in the past two months, detained at least 16 people on accusations of treason

Abdalis and Durranis are the ruling families that speak Persian not Pushto.

Muslim rule in India was established by Pakhtoons in 1192, which continued up to 1857.

Mahmood Ghaznavi (The conqueror of India) conquered undivided India after defeating Rajput king Prithvi Raj in the second battle of Tarian.

He attacked India 17 times between 999 and 1027.

Pakhtoons ruled undivided India for centuries by Ghoris, Khiljis, Suris and Lodhis.

Pakhtoon states were established in the subcontinent, namely Rampur, Junagarh, Bhopal, Malva, Behar, Pataudi, Rohelkhund and Mamdot.

In 1526, some disgusted Pakhtoon chiefs invited Mughal conqueror Babar, who defeated Ibrahim Lodhi in the first battle of Panipat.

Later, King Akber defeated Suri dynasty king in the second battle of Panipat in 1556 thus bringing an end to Pakhtoons rule/control over India. From 1834 to 1846, Peshawar and surrounding areas remained under the control of Ranjit Singh. However, Sikhs were defeated by Britishers in 1846 which resulted in the fall of the Sikh empire and annexation of the Punjab and areas included in former NWFP now Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by East India Company. By the 1880s the Russian had advanced in Central Asia and occupied cities like Bokhara, Samarkand and Khiva and were pressing Pamirs, Oxus and Afghanistan. It was October 1893 when Mortimer Durand the than Indian foreign secretary and Amir Abdur Rehman of Afghanistan, agreed that Dir, Peshawar, Chitral should be given to British India and in return Afghanistan given Asmar to give access to Nuristan and other regions. The border was demarcated in 1893, and Wakhan was created as British wanted to keep distance with Russians. During partition, 99 per cent Pakhtoons voted to join Pakistan in a referendum held from July 6 to July 17, 1947. The referendum gave them two choices to the voters either to join the existing constituent assembly or to join the new constituent assembly. It was tribal Lashkar comprising Mehsuds, Afridis, Mohmands, Toris, Diris, and mujahids from the settled district of Peshawar and Mardan took part in the liberation of Kashmir. On 29 October they were four miles short from Srinagar after crossing 115 miles in five days. Tribesmen faced India regular army with modern equipment, artillery and aircrafts in strange territory some hundred miles away from their homes with their own rifles, swords and daggers. Majority of them lost their lives and rest returned wounded. Today, suddenly, there is one man Manzoor Pashteen has appeared from nowhere to challenge the writ of the state in the grab of Pashtun Tahafuz Movement, formerly known as Mehsud Tahafuz Movement in 2014. After the killing of Naqeebullah Mehsud in Karachi, this organisation was renamed as Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM). The big question is why is PTM application being operated from Afghanistan? Secondly, why PTM’s facebook page is being controlled from India? Thirdly, why PTM official website is being operated from Mumbai.

Within no time, a specific red and black patterned cap was invented and provided to its supporters. This cap has become a symbol; the wearer is taken as a supporter of PTM. The true aim of PTM is on the behest of hostile intelligence agencies is spreading chaos, confusion, hatred and distance between the army and local population by exploiting sensitivities of the people. The PTM is also opposing fencing of the border with Afghanistan as it means they want to open ways for the movement of terrorist to Pakistan. PTM is fanning the separatist thinking and openly trying to provoke the masses against the state and its institutions. Some of the so-called leaders are continuously making anti-state speeches and instigating people against the state institutions. Even they tried invoking anti-army sentiments after the murder of minor Farishta in Islamabad. PTM has links with those at home and abroad alike who never miss an opportunity to spew venom and hit Pakistan. The PTM leadership is following a script written by their handlers.

The aim is clearly not to seek a solution rather create problems in erstwhile FATA for Pakistan. Some of the international media organisation like VOA, BBC and Afghan channels are promoting the ideology of PTM. A survey conducted by VOA on the day when DG ISPR revealed facts about PTM, 89 per cent of respondents endorsed DGISPR. In his press conference on 29 April, this year, DG-ISPR disclosed details of money they (PTM) received from NDS and RAW. He also asked PTM leaders to disclose why NDS gave them funds for Arman Luni’s funeral and sit in that followed. He also questioned how much funds did the Indian consulate in Jalalabad provide them? The chief of army staff has said that PTM is itself not an issue. Certain individuals playing in foreign hands are exploiting the sentiments of people who suffered hardship because of terrorism while interacting with students of various universities in Peshawar. No one must be allowed to undo the gains of decades-long national struggle and sacrifice.

The gatherings of PTM are no doubt engineered/funded to damage peace and stability in Pakistan. Anti-state and anti institutions slogans are being chanted which are being exploited by foreign agencies and channels. Recently a mob of PTM under Mohsin Dawar and Ali Wazir crossed the red line when they attacked a check post in North Waziristan martyring one soldier and injuries to five. The recent IED blast in Kharkamar, North Waziristan in which three army officers and a soldier were martyred and this terrorist attack has raised many questions and nexus between PTM and TTP deserters. Now the PTM is propagating the concept of Lar o Bar (referred to Pakistan and Afghanistan) which means unification of Pakistan’s Pakhtoon population with that of Afghanistan. According to a recent census in Pakistan, the total population of Pakhtoons is around 40 million. Pakistan is the largest country of Pakhtoons, and Karachi is the largest city of Pakhtoons. The total population of Pakhtoons in Afghanistan is round 10 to 15 million. Therefore, if Afghans want, they can merge with Pakistan as it said river flows to the sea and not the sea in the river. Why not have a referendum in Afghanistan for Tajiks, Uzbeks, Turkmen and Hazaras. Arabs speak the same language, share the same culture, the same origin but are divided into 22 independent states. If someone starts opposing borders then entire world map will change and international order will collapse. Pakhtoons in Pakistan are playing a significant role in all walks of life whether, military, bureaucracy, business and other fields. The Pakhtoons of Pakistan not only faced war and conflict for over several decades but also bomb blast, attacks by terrorist and drone attacks since 2001. There is no doubt, the Pakhtoons of Pakistan have sacrificed more than any other ethnic group in war on terror. If anyone deserves real appreciation for their contribution right since 1947 are Pakhtoons.
