Dengue fever claimed the life of a woman at a private hospital of Karachi city on Wednesday, taking the death toll from this mosquito-borne disease to three since January 1. According to the Sindh Prevention and Control Program of Dengue (PCPD) spokesman, a 55-year-old woman, Bachae Zhar Khanzada, a resident of old Muzafarabad areas of Landhi Town, District Korangi, was brought to the hospital on June 9 with high-grade fever, and died during treatment on Wednesday morning. At least three people have so far died of dengue fever this year, and all of them were females. A total of 660 dengue cases have so far surfaced in Sindh this year, out which 618 were reported from Karachi and 412 form other districts. In June, a total of 80 dengue positive cases emerged across the province, out of which 74 were reported from in Karachi.
