Special Assistant to the PM on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan on Thursday said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government was committed to purging the country of corrupt elements, who had no place in the ‘Naya’ Pakistan. “The Sharif family will not escape from accountability for their corrupt practices as it will continue till the recovery of national wealth looted by them while in power,” she said while addressing a ceremony held to mark Eid in Daska. “All the members of the corrupt gang are crying, and shedding crocodile tears to cover their corruption. They are not ready to return the looted public money and are trying to seek a safe passage to escape from the country.” “The corrupt politicians will have to accept their crime of plundering the national exchequer and deceiving the innocent masses by claiming innocence,” she added. Dr Firdous said former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was a convict and he should have facilities in the jail like the other convicted criminals. “Time has proved that no one is above the law in Pakistan as the government is ensuring the rule of law and justice in the country,” she added.
