Federal Minister for Narcotics Control Sindh Ali Mohammad Mahar passed away at the age of 52 on Tuesday.“The lawmaker died of cardiac arrest in his hometown Ghotki,” his family members confirmed to a private TV channel. Mahar was born on January 12, 1967 into an influential political family of Sindh. He had served as the Sindh chief minister from 2002 to 2004. He was re-elected to the National Assembly as an independent candidate from NA-205 (Ghotki-II) seat in General Election, 2018. Following his successful election, he announced to join Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).On September 11, 2018, he was inducted into the federal cabinet of Prime Minister Imran Khan. On October 4, 2018, he was appointed as Federal Minister for Narcotics Control. Prime Minister Imran Khan expressed sorrow over the demise of his cabinet member and offered condolence to the bereaved family.
