KARACHI: As the polling day approaches, the political pundits say whoever wins PS-114 seat will have not time to celebrate the victory as the constituency lacking development work for last many years requires full attention and tangible outcome.
PPP is confident that it can gain victory due to its candidate’s ancestry in the constituency; PTI is relying on Marwat’s influence to win, MQM-P’s candidate can take only advantage of Mohjir votes and the PMLN’s candidate is being allegedly supported by the governor Sindh..
Though every candidate is doing utmost to win but winning candidate will have to face so many challenges as in this constituency no work has been done for a long. The area residents count water as biggest problem because people are compelled to buy water for daily usage, sewerage, roads infrastructure, play ground remain the main problems of the area. There was a ground in the area but Irfanullah Marwat started construction of technical college in that ground which is still incomplete, according to residents.
Although MQM already holds the National Assembly seat from this constituency, residents complained that no work has been done in this constituency.
In this constituency Karachi Admin Society, Mehmoodabad, TP-II, Azam Town, Manzoor Colony, Chenaisar Goth, Ramzan Colony, Kashmir Colony, Akhter Colony, Defence View are the main areas. The 70 percent population is middle class and people with different religious and ethnic backgrounds dwell in this area including Kashmiri, Punjabi, Pakhtoon, Hazaryawal, Urdu Community and others while Christen community makes significant part of this area.
Total number of listed voters stands around 1,93,892 voters, male voters are 1,10709 and females voters are 80,602. In previous election of 2013 only 92,000 votes were polled.
Every candidate boasts to bringing revolution in this constituency if got elected. They claim to change the fate of area with unprecedented development work to be done.
On other hand PPP is preparing to bring Bilawal Bhutto and Asif Ali Zardari in constituency as part of election campaign following Imran Khan’s recent visit.
