Preparations for Xmas gain momentum

LAHORE: As Christmas approaches, preparations for the festival are gaining momentum with each passing day in provincial the capital.

In this connection, bakeries have started to prepare large variety of cakes, especially Christmas cakes of different designs. Bakeries’ workers are spending overtime to meet the demand of customers. Restaurants have also started to decorate the lobby of restaurants with different Christmas items. Many restaurants have also issued special discount offers in connection with upcoming Christmas.

Bazaars are also brimming with customers, who are busy in buying different Xmas-related items. Churches have also been decorated with colourful lights and different decorated items.

Meanwhile, special Christmas bazaars have been made functional in the city. All these bazaars have been established for three days. Lahore District Coordination Officer (DCO) Captain (r) Muhammad Usman has directed all town administrations to decorate all churches.

The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) will also organise a cake Cutting and ration distribution ceremony today (Friday). Provincial Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir, political representatives, religious leaders of Christian community and management of the Lahore Waste Management Company along with managing director are expected to attend the event.

Several ceremonies in connection with Christmas were held on Thursday. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) minority wing arranged a seminar at a local hotel where PTI vice chairman Mehmood Querhsi addressed the participants.

Separately, cut cutting ceremony was also held at Gulab Davi Hospital in which Jamaat-e-Islami general secretary participated. Moreover, Government Islamia College Civil Lines held a cake cutting ceremony in which Higher Education Department Deputy Secretary Khalid basher participated.
