Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) Secretary has been removed from the post over alleged tempering of records.

At a session held in Rawalpindi Press Club on Tuesday, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa remarked that RWMC Board of Director had written a letter to the Local Government and Community Development (LG&CD) Secretary for a high-level inquiry committee to probe the allegations. The accusations were previously raised by a senior officer of RWMC against the company secretary.

Deputy Commissioner added that as many as 16 Ramazan Bazars would be established in the district to provide subsidies on fruits, vegetables and other items.

The magistrate would regularly visit bazaars to monitor the standard of the commodities being sold, he maintained.

Randhawa further said the district administration had set up a task management system to monitor officers’ performance and track citizens’ complaints.

The DC also noted that the government was taking a number of steps to raise the quality of education including upgradation of schools.

The government schools were said to be equipped with advanced educational facilities. Randhawa added that the goal of national development could not be achieved without imparting education to the new generation.

He recalled that during his visit, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar suggested offering internships to undergraduate and graduate students in government schools.

Buzdar had then said that this step would improve the performance of school teachers and would be initially started in 10 schools.

The Task Management System was being introduced to monitor the citizens’ complaints through a computerised tracking number.
