The Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute (PKLI) is barely able to continue providing services, as the board to run the organisation has not been formed so far. Despite all the odds, the hospital is still catering to kidney and liver patients, and Daily Times learnt that liver transplantations are on hold due this unfortunate delay by the Punjab government. Meanwhile, a group of civil officers of the 25th Senior Management Course from the National Institute of Management (NIM), Islamabad, visited the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute on Thursday as part of their Inland Study Tour programme. The delegation was led by Directing Staff (Research) NIM Dr Faheem Jehangir Khan. They met the PKLI management team, headed by Medical Education Director Dr Hafiz Ijaz Ahmad, who briefed the guests on the hospital’s vision, mission, functions, operational aspects, current services and future plans for expansion. Upon viewing different sections of the PKLI, the visiting officers were impressed to witness the healing environment, high quality equipment and modern facilities. The visitors expressed that the visit proved to be of immense professional value for them and appreciated the PKLI’s management and staff members for their resilience in ensuring delivery of the best possible medical care to everyone without discrimination.
