Paramilitary Rangers, on Tuesday, arrested three accused of the murder of a trader in Karachi’s Jodia Bazaar at his business premises. A statement by Rangers spokesperson confirmed that the son-in-law of victim Saleem was found to be key accused of the killing. Muhammad Saleem, the owner of Saleem Corporation located in the key wholesale market of Karachi, was murdered on April 9 in the jurisdiction of the Kharadar police station. The spokesperson maintained that his murder had caused panic in the business community, due to which a special Rangers team was constituted for its investigation. The investigators were said to found evidence against key accused, Khurram Mumtaz; arresting him along with Iqbal alias German and his son Naveed Iqbal. He added that Saleem was murdered with the help of the operatives of Lyari gang war, Mumtaz was said to have conspired to kill his father-in-law for property and over a personal dispute. He hired the services of Iqbal German and Naveed Iqbal for one million rupees. The statement noted that Iqbal handed the murder job to his son Naveed, who shot dead the trader on April 9. The murder weapon was found to be a pistol, which was recovered from the accused while 50,000 rupees cash, a motorcycle and a helmet used at the time of the murder were also taken into custody. Now that the target killer had been identified, the Rangers asserted that further investigation was underway. Earlier, Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and the leaders of traders community had strongly condemned the murder.
