Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Fazlur Rehman on Sunday said that the incumbent government was trying to abolish the 18th Constitutional Amendment and bring presidential form of government in the country. Addressing the participants of the ‘million march rally’ organised by his party at Bab-e-Khyber, Jamrud, he said that if efforts were made to change the 18th Amendment, it would be like depriving the provinces of their due rights. He said no one could impose restrictions on religion seminaries. “No checks will be acceptable on seminaries, and we will react to any change in this regard.” Talking about the presidential system, he said, “The presidential form of government is kind of a dictatorship, so every effort of elements to impose it in Pakistan will be foiled.” Fazl urged Prime Minster Imran Khan to admit his failures and tender his resignation as soon as possible, as he could not deceive the nation by firing some of his cabinet members, making them scapegoats. He said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government with its irresponsible attitude had disgruntled the Chinese government. He maintained that the Peshawar Bus Repaid Transit, a mega project of the PTI government in Peshawar, was the prime example of the government’s honesty. Abdul Ghafoor Haidari, Shah Awais Norani, Akram Durrani, Mufti Abdushakoor and other leaders also addressed the participants of the ‘million march’.
