Tribute paid to young poet from remote area

KHYBER AGENCY: A book review ceremony of a young tribal poet comprising Pushto poetry themed, “Durshal” was held here at the Jirga hall of tehsil Landi Kotal on Sunday.

President Shelman Qaumi Movement, Moheb Gul Shelmani, presided the literary gathering while tehsildar, Landi Kotal, Irshad Mohmand was the chief guest on the occasion. A large number of tribal elders, poets, writers and members of the civil society participated in the moot.

Addressing on the occasion Tehsildar Irshad Mohamand felicitated Naveed Alam Naveed, for publishing his poetry work and said that he would be a torch bearer and his foot prints would be followed by other tribal youths of Shelman.

He further said that the renovation work at the shrines of famous poets, Hamza Baba and Khater Afridi, had been completed and the administration would leave no stone unturned to work for the welfare of the writers’ community.

Speaking on the occasion, Moheb Gul Shelmani, shed light on the problems being faced by the dwellers of the far-flung area of Shelaman and said despite being a neglected area, the publishing of literary work proved that the locality was rich in talent.

He paid tribute to Naveed Alam Naveed, stressing that being a resident of Shelman, he would convoy the miseries of the the tribes in a better way.

He announced that from the platform of the Shelman Qaumi Movement, writing works of the two scholars would be published every year to salute their work.

A poetry reciting session was also held in which dozens of poets from across Khyber and Peshawar read prose and ghazals and amused the audience.

It is to be mentioned here that the writer, Naveed Alam Naveed belongs to the remote area of Kam-Shelman. He did his masters in Pushto literature and is presently executing his official duty as an assistant political agent at the Landi Kotal office.
