Muhammad Fahad Mehmood successfully defended his PhD thesis in the Department of Earth Sciences, Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) here on Tuesday. According to the statement, the scholar thesis bears the topic “Simultaneous Inversion technique & pore pressure calculation of Badin Gas Field” The thesis has been supervised by Prof. Dr. Zulfiqar Ahmad, Director ORIC, University of Wah, while the external evaluations were made by Emeritus Prof Donald Nielsen, UC Davis USA and Prof Dr Yunjan Shank from Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing. The ceremony was attended by Prof Gulraiz Akhtar, Chairman Earth Sciences & Prof Tehseenullah Khan Chairman EES Bahria University, faculty & senior students of Earth Sciences QAU. Another student of the QAU, Madhia Khalid, Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Biochemistry ,also defended her thesis.. Her research top was “Effect of Silver Nanoparticles on Elemental, Composition of Selected Wheat Varieties”. She was supervised by Dr. Ibrar Ahmed Assistant Professor in COMSATS University Islamabad. He also served in the QAU. The statement said that the both scholars performed best and done research more practically that, it added, could implement in respective fields in order to contribute in the industry. It claimed that the all facts and figures in the research complied very carefully in accordance with research’s results. Meanwhile, the QAU organized by an event to commemorate International Day of Light. According to the statement, Dr Imrana Ashraf, Chief Organizer of the Optics Fair said, the activity has been designed to promote Optics, Photonics and its applications among Pakistani school and undergraduate students. She said the activity will allow students to understand the natural phenomena of light and develop a new perspective for the Optics related natural processes. Students from different institutes of different grades, like 7th, 8th standards, graduates and under-graduate attended the activity. An opening lecture was delivered to students about importance of light and optics in daily life.
