Pakistan Customs, on Wednesday, foiled an attempt to smuggle 950 grammes of crystal meth worth Rs 96 million by a passenger travelling to Saudi Arabia from Peshawar airport. The authorities claimed in a statement that an individual, Jamshed, who hailed from Swabi, was caught trying to smuggle narcotics in his luggage. The statement added that he was attempting to board a flight to Ra’sal Khaymah. A report of the incident was lodged by local police. Crystal meth or ice is a stimulant drug that triggers the release of two neurotransmitters, dopamine and noradrenaline, in the brain, causing the user to feel alert and excited. The drug comes as small clear chunky crystals that look like ice and can lead to powerful euphoric episodes with high energy, feelings of invulnerability, confidence and pleasure along with an increased sex drive, that last up to 12 hours.
