Pashto poet Hamza Baba remembered

Prominent poets and notable literary figures from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa attended the 25th death anniversary of renowned Pashto poet Amir Hamza Khan here in Landi Kotal, on Sunday. Khyber Pashto Adabi Jirga had organised an event in this regard in his shrine in Landi Kotal. Professor Tawan Shah Masroor and Aslam Taseer read out their research papers on the life, poetry and aestheticism of the Pashto legend Poet Ameer Hamza Shinwari. Poetry sessions were also held where participants remembered the pioneer of Pashto modern ghazal. A similar joint gathering was organised by Hamza Baba Adabi Jirga and Shelman Adabi Jirga in Jirga hall, Landi Kotal, on Sunday. Prominent among those who attended the gatherings were Laiq Zada Laiq, Dr Yar Muhammad Mughmoom along with hundreds of Pashto poetry lover. Speakers on these occasions remembered the great services rendered by Hamza Baba for the development of Pashto language and ghazal writing. It may be pertinent to be mentioned here that Hamza Baba, commonly known as Baba-e-Ghazal of Pashto, had passed away on February 19, 1994.
