A man who was accused of the murder of two people over a property dispute was allegedly killed in a police encounter here on Sunday. Four police officers were also injured in the exchange of fire.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Investigation Shahnawaz Chachar said that police had conducted an operation for the arrest of accused Maqsood after he had killed his sister Nasreen (52), her daughter Bisma(12) and injured two others, including a child Ahmad (8) and his other sister some two days earlier at Ghazi Road in Factory Area of Lahore. He had murdered his sister and niece upon Nasreen’s refusal to transfer a property, which she had recently bought, to his name. Upon sight of police, Maqsood opened fire, killing his own brother, Shahid, and injuring SHO Attique Dogar and three other officers, and tried to flee from the scene. Maqsood also became a victim of the shooting that he had begun as he died from police’ return bullets. The dead bodies and the injured police officers had been shifted to hospital.

However, sister of the deceased Maqsood and Shahid has claimed that her brother, Shahid, was killed because of police wrongfully putting him up front during the raid instead of being ahead themselves.
