Sir: As the result of heavy snowfall, roads have been blocked in Indian-Held Kashmir. Even highway linking Jammu is blocked. The airlines are charging 500 percent higher fare (Indian Rs 20,000 instead of Rs 4000) for one-way flight from Srinagar to Jammu (Tribune India dated Feb 7, 2019). Moreover, electricity generated in Kashmir is exported to the north-Indian states (Rising Kashmir, dated Feb 8, 2019). Ahead of winter, India’s central government shifts all its offices to Jammu city. So the Valley is left alone to bear brunt of cold spell, blocked roads, shortage of doctors to treat pulmonary diseases. With hotels sans heating facility, tourism is in shambles. But, unfortunately there are no plans or services for tourists as heating arrangement also gets affected for the hotel industry.
