LARKANA: The Sindh High Court (SHC) Circuit Court, Larkana on Wednesday sought the list of encroaches made over the Mohenjo Daro land by indigenous people. In this regard, on the directions of the court, the Deputy Commissioner, Kashif Ali Tipu, has written a letter to the curator of the World Heritage monuments of Mohenjo Daro calling for submitting a list of encroaches made over land of the site by people residing in village Dhand located near the cultural site. Earlier, Advocate Afzal Jagirani filed a constitutional petition in the SHC requesting removal of all encroachments on the lands of Mohenjo Daro. After carrying out demarcation, the revenue department submitted a report that 48.5 acres of land has been encroached upon by the land grabbers. According to the report, 37 acres of land is being used for cultivation and villages namely Imam Bux Malah & Dhand and the remaining 11.5 acres by natives. The Deputy Commissioner has now sought a detailed report along with the names of the occupants of Mohenjo Daro land where a village has been established so that action could be taken against them before the next hearing of the case on February 01, 2017.
