LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah sought a report from the Birdlife International until February 19 on petitions against the government’s nod to Qatari royal family for hunting internationality protected houbara bustards and other migratory birds. During the hearing on Wednesday, Assistant Advocate General Anwaar Hussain submitted the summary approved by the provincial cabinet regarding issuance of permits to foreign dignitaries, including Qatari royal family’s members, for hunting houbara bustard. He claimed that there was no illegality committed in issuing permits. He informed that three permits were issued for specific hunting areas in southern Punjab and each permit holder was allowed to hunt 100 birds. He added that 147 birds had so far been gunned down.
