RAWALPINDI: Encroachments by vendors, motorcyclists and motorists in Cantonment areas of Rawalpindi has become a nuisance for the citizens as the authorities have turned a blind eye to the issue.

The encroachers have set up stalls and kiosks on footpaths and major roads including Jhand Chichi, Shah Bibi, Tahli Mohri, Dheri Hassan Abad, Dhok Chiragh Din, Lalkurti and adjoining areas, creating hurdles in the hassle-free movement of pedestrians and shoppers besides causing traffic congestions.

A resident of Lalkurti, while talking to media said, “We cannot move in markets as encroachers have almost occupied all the free space.”
Nadia Bibi, a visitor to the Adiala Road, said that parking plazas were the need of the hour to solve parking issues, as motorists parked their vehicles on main roads and footpaths, causing massive traffic congestion.
