The Pakistan Volleyball Federation is optimistic about bringing laurels for the country in the upcoming Asian Club Championship, which is slated to be held in April in Chinese Taipei. At least 18 countries will take part in this championship. Twenty-two Pakistan players are being trained here at the Pakistan Sports Complex under the supervision of Iranian coach Hamid Movahedi, who is being assisted by three nationalcoaches. “We are training hard in two sessions to improve the players` skills and get a medal in the Asian Championship,” Iranian coach Hamid Movahedi told journalists. Pakistan Volleyball Federation chairman Chaudhry Mohammad Yaqoob said that the players were training hard and the PVF was hopeful of getting good results in the Asian Club Championship. He, however, said that the ongoing training camp was meant for only one month which was not sufficient for training, and added that this camp should continue for the better training of players. “Last time, we won bronze medals, and this time around we are expecting better results,” Yaqoob said, adding that after this championship, the PVF would focus on Under-23 and the Asian Senior Championship. The training camp includes young players Ali Haider, Abdullah, Mohammad Dawood, Adnan, Bilal Khan, Afaq Khan, Mohammad Hammad, Mazhar Ali, Usman, Athisham Ali, Hamid Yazman, Ishaq Khan, Mohammad Waseem, Ahmed Nazir, Afraz Khan, Mohammad Rizwan, Saqib Khan, Zarnab Khan, Anwar Khan, Fahad Khan, Ahmed Mustafa, Murad Khan and Noman Khan. The team management includes Hamid Movahedi, Mazhar Hussain, Saeed Ahmed, Fazal Ahmed, Azhar Mehmood and Laiq Khan. Published in Daily Times, January 20th 2019.
