Both the Pakistan People’s Party and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz launched a protest during the ongoing session of Punjab Assembly on Friday demanding the elimination of names of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah from the Exit Control List. Speaking on a point of order, PPP’s parliamentary leader Syed Hassan Murtaza said that the Supreme Court ordered the federal government to exclude the names of both Bilawal and Murad Ali Shah from the no-fly list but the government has committed the contempt of court by not following the instructions of the apex court. He was of the view that the founder of PPP Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was physically eliminated through a judicial murder while Yousaf Raza Gillani resigned from his office and another former prime minister of PPP Raja Pervaiz Ashraf is still facing the court proceedings. He further added that the report of JIT on fake account cases is not a divine document and the PPP wouldn’t accept any adventure beyond the ambit of the constitution. Samiullah Khan, an MPA of PML-N said the government is holding its political opponents accountable. PPP’s parliamentary leader Syed Hassan Murtaza says party wouldn’t accept any adventure beyond the ambit of constitution “Maryam Nawaz was sent to jail as she didn’t provide the money trail but is there any possibility that Aleema Khan would also be in jail if she fails to give her money trail,” asked Samiullah Khan. He was of the view that PML-N isn’t scared of accountability process as its both leaders are behind the bars while facing the trial. According to Khan, the government should immediately exclude the names of Bilawal and CM Sindh from the ECL. Responding to the opposition, Minister for Housing Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed said that the PM has already constituted a three-member committee to decide about the fate of Bilawal and CM Sindh regarding the ECL. Not a single corrupt would be spared as corruption of billions was done through the fake bank accounts and money laundering, Rasheed said. “The Zardari group has plundered billion of rupees and they will have to face the music now. There will be no more Sindh card as only Pakistan card would work now because ‘Naya Pakistan’ has been constituted,” Rasheed said. Later, the deputy speaker adjourned the session till Monday afternoon. Published in Daily Times, January 12th 2019.
